PATIALA: Punjab Congress chief captain Amarinder Singh on Tuesday congratulated party legislators for making the AkaliBJP government “run away” from discussion and rush for the cover.

Congress workers protesting in Ludhiana on Tuesday.

“For the first time, the opposition has made the government walk out of the House,” Amarinder said while, justifying the sit in by party legislators inside the House.

You (CM Parkash Singh Badal) may be able to run away from the Vidhan Sabha, but how long can you run away from the people. We are going to drag you to the people’s court,” he said, while disclosing that from the Vidhan Sabha, the protests will now move out all over the state and the final battle will be fought by the ballot.

Amarinder lashed out at the CM for trying to shed crocodile tears by coming to meet the protesting Congress legislators and asking them to lift the dharna, when he should have intervened and facilitated the discussion on Monday only.

“This is too little and too late and Badal is trying to shed crocodile tears in his characteristic manner,” he said, adding had he really been sincere he, as the leader of the House, should not have allowed this situation to emerge at the first instance.

“The fight has just started and we will take it to the logical conclusion,” Amarinder said.

The Congress workers have already launched an offensive against the government as protest demonstrations were held in every district and block, he said.
