Jalandhar: Attacking the senior BJP leader Manoranjan Kalia over his statement alleging the congress MLAs protest at Vidhan Sabha as an act of hogging media limelight, Punjab Congress spokesperson Nimisha Mehta on Wednesday asked Kalia to explain his sympathy towards criminals.
Mehta said that it was high time that Kalia should wake up to the alarming law and order situation in Punjab and realise the situation of common man living under fear even in broad day light in the state. The Punjab congress spokesperson said there was not a single town in Punjab, which was gangster or criminal free.
“Loots, dacoities and murders had become order of the day and if the congress MLAs wanted to question the Punjab government, then why was Kalia feeling pained?” she questioned. She said that Kalia’s act proves he wanted to support the criminals and if Akalis and BJP leadership continued with this trend, the day is not far when this land of five rivers would be known as land of criminals. Mehta cornered Kalia by claiming that majority of crime took place in his constituency recently.
Further she said that Kalia instead of trying to settle scores with Akalis through congress, the MLA should show courage to speak against the dictatorship of Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, else he should resign from his post. It was an open secret that the BJP leaders were pushed to the wall by the Akalis in the state.
