An informal meeting of the Committee was convened today by MLA Preneet Kaur to finalise its scope of functioning so that a strong case could be made out to ensure that the historic town of Patiala gets its due without any further delay. “Patiala should have been listed in the first instance in view of its rich heritage and being a fulcrum point of all social and cultural activities” said Preneet Kaur.
“The Committee would be a totally apolitical outfit and would seek the cooperation and help of every one irrespective of political affiliations,” said Preneet Kaur. “The Committee will finalise a blue print of the project and ensure its implementation in a time bound manner”, said Shri Ved Parkash Gupta.
In 1956 when Pepsu was merged with Punjab” it was recalled in the meeting, “the then Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru had consciously decided that the importance and sanctity of Patiala town shall be maintained and it was in that contest the PPSC, PRTC, PSEB, Chief Engineers of PWD, Archaeology & Archives Department, National Institute of Sports, were headquartered here.
