Ropar : Punjab Congress Legislature Party chief and the Leader of the Opposition Charanjit Singh Channi on Tuesday kick-started his week-long ‘Jawani Sambhal Yatra’ from Chamkaur Sahib leading about 1,000 cyclists to create awareness and mobilise the youth against social evils and press for their rights to employment.
This awareness campaign would culminate at Takht Damdama Sahib, Talwandi Sabo on October 3 covering on an average about 45 km every day. This Yatra would criss-cross 23 assembly constituencies in the Malwa region.
Harish Chaudhary, Secretary in-charge Punjab and Amarinder Singh Raja Warring President Indian Youth Congress, at a massive show of strength at Dana Mandi Chamkaur Sahib, flagged off the Yatra. The motto of the yatra is to create awareness in the youth of Punjab against drugs, unemployment and corruption. The yatra on the first day crossed the assembly constituency Chamkaur Sahib, Morinda town, Khamano town falling in Bassi Pathana and finally ending at Samrala.
Parallel shows!
PPCC President Capt Amarinder Singh and CLP leader Charanjit Singh Channi are running their parallel election campaign for the 2017 assembly elections, which is again putting question mark over the unison among the party. Capt Amarinder Singh had launched ‘Punjab Congress Express’ campaign in all Parliamentary constituencies, asking all senior leaders to form groups of three for each campaign vehicle. Charanjit Singh Channi was deputed group leader for Anandpur Sahib Lok Sabha seat where he had to move around in the campaign vehicle from 27 days starting September 24.
Channi, as learnt, neither attended the PPCC programme to launch Punjab Congress Express vehicles nor did he take the responsibility of single constituency as he was unwilling to get confined.
Capt Amarinder and his group stayed away from the Channi’s programme.
