JALANDHAR: Suspended Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP from Patiala Dr Dharamvira Gandhi on Tuesday termed Navjot Singh Sidhu-led ‘Aawaaz-e-Punjab’ (AeP) as ‘indecisive’ and a political forum formed in ‘haste’.
MP Dr Dharamvira Gandhi addressing the media at Desh Bagat Yaadgaar Hall in Jalandhar on Tuesday.
“Less said, better it is. They made a sudden entry and sudden withdraw. Whatever they have said after holding a meeting with Sidhu, you cannot ascertain something concrete whether they are going to join hands with the AAP or the Congress. They are not able to decide,” said Gandhi, who was here to attend a release function of a short film based on Shaheed Bhagat Singh in Desh Bhagat Yaadgaar Hall here.
The MP also countered claims given by the AeP leaders that formation of the fourth front would divide anti-incumbency votes and would favour the SAD.
“Let me make it very clear it’s a wrong notion. What is likely to benefit SAD is the wrong selection of candidate done deliberately by AAP. AAP’s move to give tickets to controversial candidates is likely to make ground for the Akalis to come back. It would not be Gandhi or Sidhu,” said the MP.
Over a question of mindset of Sidhu, Gandhi said he is too small a personality to make comment over a celebrity like Sidhu.
“Sidhu saab is too big a man to talk and I have never met him. His wife is still in the BJP. I cannot disclose what exactly happened to the formation of fourth front led by the AeP,” said the MP, when asked what exactly went wrong in the Sidhu-led front. ‘KEJRIWAL SHOULD RESIGN NOT ME’
On the statement of AAP Punjab co-incharge Jarnail Singh that “To test his popularity, Dharamvira Gandhi should resign as an MP and should contest as an MLA”, the MP said he was not a domestic servant of Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal like many other party leaders.
“People of Patiala have elected me as an MP for full five years. How can I betray them? Rather Kejriwal should resign for betraying the hopes of crores of people who believed in the dreams of politics of principals shown by him. He has left all that principals but I have not moved an inch from my stand. Kejriwal should resign not me,” said the MP.
