Cong to build ‘memorial’ for persons killed in police firing

Bathinda : Punjab Congress Legislature Party leader Charanjit Singh Channi on Sunday announced to build a “memorial” for two persons who were allegedly killed in police firing in Behbal Kalan in Faridkot last year.

He said he will meet the families of both the persons on Monday.

Channi vowed to “reopen” the Behbal Kalan firing case if Congress forms the government in 2017 and accused Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal of “shielding the culprits”.

Terming his cycle yatra a “big success”, he said it got a “massive response” from the locals and Congress leaders, especially the youth.

The ‘Jawani Sambhal’ yatra on Sunday reached Bathinda district and stayed in Goniana. It will finish at Takht Damdama Sahib in Talwandi Sabo.

He also slammed Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal for the alleged “failure” in making adequate arrangements for procurement of the paddy crop.
