FEROZEPUR/MUKTSAR: Addressing the gathering at Jhandhu Wala village in Guruharsahai, a sub-division of Ferozepur on Wednesday, PPCC president Captain Amarinder Singh said, “Modi does not have trust in Parkash Singh Badal and his coterie in regime in Punjab, hence deliberately not providing anything to state.”

Earlier he visited the grain market at Guruharsahai accompanied by local MLA Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi and interacted with farmers on way to his journey.

Later in the evening, his convey reached Ferozepur accompanied by Congress MLA Parminder Singh Pinki where local congress rank and file welcomed their state party head. CONG LEADER LASHES OUT AT PM MODI

“Charkhas won’t help Punjab industrialists to compete with China nor will generate jobs for the lakh of unemployed youth of the state.”

Stating the above, senior congress leader and Abohar MLA Sunil Jakhar further said that having ruled for ten long years, the chief minister is still asking Modi to set up a group to find out what ails industrial sector of Punjab.

“Badal Sahib didn’t even ask for loan waiver for the distressed farmers of Punjab nor did he remind Modi about his commitment to the 25,000 Punjabi farmers whom BJP government of Gujarat wants to dispossess of their lands,” he rued.

“Industry and farming in Punjab are both suffering not only because of BJP government’s apathy but also because the Akali leadership has bartered away Punjab’s interests for their personal gains,” said Jakhar. WILL TAKE UP PROCUREMENT ISSUE WITH CENTRE: CAPTAIN

Mounting further pressure on the SAD-BJP government over the alleged `31,000 crore food grain scam, PPCC chief Captain Amarinder Singh on Wednesday promised farmers that he will personally take up the problem of grain procurement with the union food minister in Delhi.

“I will go and meet the union food minister and request him to expedite the procurement process,” he said on the third day of his ‘kisan bus yatra’ in Muktsar grain market.

Captain while referring to Badals said that they should be prepared to go to jail for all their misdeeds against the people of Punjab. “You (Badals) will have to pay for it,” he said. Expressing to recover `31,000 crore of alleged embezzled amounts in the scam, he said, “We will not allow them to get away with this open loot.”

Alleging a nexus between the Akalis and the procurement agents at the grain markets, Captain accused the latter of deliberately not purchasing the grain in order to push the farmers to a state of desperation, where they will be willing to sell off their paddy crop even at the low rates. “The agents and the Akalis then pocket the difference, while the already burdened farmers end up with increased debts, often causing them to commit suicide,” he said.

The farmers alleged that as a result of this nexus, not only was their grain not being lifted on time but they were also not being paid in time. The farmers complained to Captain that they still haven’t received their payment for the last wheat procurement.

The farmers complained that bad quality of fertilizers being provided by the government agencies is aggravating their woes. “It’s a dirty and cheap game they are playing with you. They will have to pay for it,” the PPCC chief told the farmers, adding that he had put the Badals behind bars even earlier and will do it again, once they are found guilty by the courts.

Captain also assured the farmers that once Congress forms the government in Punjab, he will take immediate steps to tackle the growing law and order problem in the region. “Criminals and mafia have a free run in the region under the patronage of the Akali leaders,” he said.
