Chandigarh : Punjab Congress has laughed away as `pathetic’ the Aam Aadmi Party’s desperate gimmick to replicate the success of its farm debt waiver campaign, saying the move by Arvind Kejriwal’s party was a futile attempt to match Congress promise.
Unlike Congress debt waiver campaign, which was aimed at all the debt-ridden farmers in the state, AAP’s farm manifesto promises waiver of debt for only poor farmers and farm labourers, as well as loans of SCs and BCs. For the rest, only interest on farm loans would be waived off, as per the manifesto promise of AAP, Congress leaders pointed out.
In an attempt to copy Punjab Congress `Karza Kudki Khatam, Fasal Di Poori Rakam’ initiative, AAP claims to have launched a similar campaign to capture loan and other relevant details of farmers in Punjab. Dismissing the move as pitiable and a sign of sheer despair, the Punjab Congress leaders said AAP could not befool the people of Punjab with such gimmickry.
