Jalandhar : A day after Deputy Chief Minister’s claim, AAP spokesperson Sukhpal Singh Khaira on Saturday advised Sukhbir Singh Badal to hold proper dope test of his Badal village publicly to find out the colossal drug abuse in Punjab. Khaira said that Deputy CM was downplaying the drugs issue, so as to protect his brother-in-law and Revenue Minister Bikram Singh Majithia and the drug mafia in the state. “Why hasn’t the Badal government got a proper investigation done into the direct allegations leveled by Rs 6000 crore drug lord Jagdish Bhola against Bikram Majithia and other Akali leaders?” he questioned.
AAP leader stated these facts in response to Deputy CM’s statement that only 1.27 percent of the 3.75 lakh youth who appeared for the constable’s post were found positive after the dope test. Deputy CM had claimed that this was even below the national average of drug addicts and that no such issue of drug abuse existed in Punjab.
Addressing a press conference, Khaira said that Sukhbir Badal pressurized DGP Punjab and Vice Chancellor of Baba Farid University to project the same facts of dope test done in the Punjab Police recruitment.
“Earlier the state government and the police had claimed that more than 7 lakh youth applied for the job. If this was the case, then why only 3.75 lakh turned up for the recruitment process and the dope test?” he asked.
Khaira highlighted that considering the huge unemployment in Punjab, all the 7 lakh youth should have appeared for the tests. Instead the fact was that 3.75 lakh youth did not turn up, as they were afraid of being found positive.
