Chandigarh : Ludhiana-based Independent MLAs and Awaaz-e-Punjab leaders Bains brothers have floated a new political outfit — Lok Insaaf Party. They have started the procedure to register it with the Election Commission.

As per the requirement of the commission, they issued a public notice last week demanding objections from the public. As per the notice, Simarjit Singh Bains is president of the party, Ranjit Singh Ubhi is the secretary general and Ranjit Singh Ghatore is the treasurer. The party’s head office will be in Ludhiana.

Sources close to Simarjit said they had conveyed to their workers, that there would be an election alliance with the Congress but they would contest on their own party symbol.

“Awaaz-e-Punjab is a forum not party. So all its candidates will contest under the banner of the Lok Insaaf Party. We want our independent identity, so there is no question of merger,” said a senior functionary of the party.
