Bathinda, October 31 : The state Congress is mulling a plan to cut down on exorbitant expenses through the curtailment of the VIP culture, if it comes to power. On the agenda are “drastic” initiatives which might find their way into the party manifesto for the Assembly elections.
Based on internal inputs, the party has prepared a document listing down key steps it feels are essential to control unnecessary expenditure. From the abolition of red beacon lights, except on emergency vehicles, to reducing personal security deployment by up to 90 per cent, the provisions are aimed at lightening the financial burden on the state’s exchequer.
