Congress burns effigy of PM Modi

Jalandhar : The District Congress Urban unit members led by its president Rajinder Beri on Friday burnt the effigy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for detaining Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi in the suicide case of an ex-serviceman.

Beri along with the congress workers raised anti-Modi slogans and said that the PM Modi was hounding the Gandhi scion, as he raised voice against a serious issue of the soldiers at the national level.

The police locked the main gate of the Deputy Commissioner’s (DC) office, so as to stop the protesting congress workers from going inside the DC office. While congress leaders remained stationed near the main gate, people were left stuck on Ladowali road. The vehicular traffic also remained block for sometime, leading to chaos for the commuters.

Patiala: Congress Party led by former president of the National Students Union of India (NSUI) and Senior Leader of the Party, Harpal Pardhan, organized a protest on Patiala-Chandigarh road here and burnt the effigy of PM Narendra Modi. Congress workers blocked road and disrupted the vehicular traffic against anti-people policies being followed by Modi led government.

While addressing the agitators Pardhan said that while the slogan of the Congress Party is “Jai Jawan Jai Kissan” on the other hand Modi Government’s slogan is “Die Jawan, Die Kissan”.

Kapurthala: Congress workers from Kapurthala staged a dharna at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Chowk on Friday afternoon to protest against detainment of Rahul Gandhi by Delhi Police.

The workers also burnt effigy of PM Narender Modi. Traffic remained disturbed in parts of Kapurthala during the protest. The protest was led by MLA and Chief whip Navtej Singh Cheema and DCC President Joginder Singh Mann.
