Jalandhar : Blaming Aam Admi Party (AAP) of patronising ‘Liquor Mafia’, Punjab Congress spokesperson Sunil Jakhar on Saturday questioned AAP’s national convener Arvind Kejriwal to come clean on his stand against the induction of liquor mafia man in the party.
Jakhar questioned the rationale behind hiring Abohar based Om Parkash Kaushik, the ‘political advisor’ of liquor baron Shiv Lal Doda, who was currently lodged in jail for brutally murdering Dalit youth- Bhim Tank in December last year.
While AAP brought Kaushik into party fold, it drew flak from the main opposition congress for hiring ‘liquor mafia’ men known for their ‘mighty’ political connections. Though, the AAP leadership cancelled the primary membership of Kaushik on Friday but it was facing severe criticism from the opposition.
Jakhar said that on one hand Kejriwal is branding AAP as a party of ‘alternative politics’ and on the other hand he is patronising ‘liquor mafia’ like the SAD-BJP alliance in the state. “The ruling SAD-BJP combine and AAP was two facets of the same coin. The claim of AAP of being a party against ‘drugs and liquor mafia’ has been exposed”, Jakhar said.
“Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal should spell out that whether he will expel Durgesh Pathak and AAP Punjab convener Gurpreet Singh Waraich or take action against them for being hand in gloves with the liquor mafia”, he added.
