Congress leaders meet grain commission agents

LUDHIANA: Former chief minister Rajinder Kaur Bhattal met grain commission agents from various parts of state in Ludhiana on Saturday to seek the suggestions and opinions to be incorporated in Congress party’s manifesto for the upcoming assembly elections.

Along with Bhattal, former finance minister Manpreet Singh Badal, MLA Rakesh Pandey were present in the meeting with the commission agents lead by Vijay Kalra, president Punjab Arhitiyas Association.
Bhattal said that suggestions of commission agents regarding their problems and woes of farmers were given a patient hearing.
Bhattal said that Congress always has championed the cause of farmers adding that if it came to power top priority would be given to agro sector including resolving grievances and problems faced by farming community.
Bhattal assured that outstanding loan of farmers raised from banks and cooperative societies would be waived off by Congress if it came to power. “Agents do not need to worry about the waiving of loans in regard to be money borrowed by farmers from them,” she said. Bhattal said that party would do its best to find resolution of problems faced by farmers if it comes to power.
Former CM Bhattal said that only Congress could provide stable government in Punjab and take the state on path of prosperity. Bhattal also expressed support protest by All India Congress Committee (AICC) vice-president Rahul Gandhi over the suicide of Ram Kishan Grewal, the ex-serviceman and a former sarpanch in Haryana.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi government has betrayed ex-servicemen of country on the issue of One Rank, One Pension (OROP). OROP implementation by Modi government is just eyewash and nothing else,” she alleged.
Bhattal alleged that Badals during their ten year rule have only built up their family empire looting wealth of the people.
