Chandigarh : Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday accused SAD-BJP and Congress of allowing Punjab waters to flow to other states and demanded resignation of all the MPs and MLAs from Punjab of these parties.
Addressing the media at Chandigarh, AAP Punjab Convener Gurpreet Singh Ghuggi, senior leader and Supreme Court lawyer Harinder Singh Phoolka and manifesto committee head Kanwar Sandhu said that SAD-BJP and Congress leaders from Punjab played in the hands of anti-Punjab forces and ignored rights of Punjab on SYL issue. Now, the fate of Punjabis was hanging in Supreme Court and the decision of SC could affect the farmers badly. In this situation, leaders of these parties had lost the right to represent people.
Ghuggi said that AAP leaders will meet Governor of Punjab on Thursday and submit a memorandum on SYL issue. The leaders would appeal to the Governor to seek resignation of all MPs and MLAs for failing to protect the rights of state.
He accused Capt Amarinder of inviting then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi to commence SYL construction work and was now shedding crocodile tears. In a similar manner, Chief Minister Badal acquired land for SYL to please his friend and Haryana Chief Minister Devi Lal and got land for his hotel in Gurgaon in return. Phoolka said that Badal had betrayed all Punjabis for the sake of family. He did not even think of discussing the matter with the Prime Minister Modi with whom his party shared power at Centre.
Accusing Capt Amarinder Singh of failing to raise the issue of Punjab, Phoolka asked why didn’t he resign from the post of chief minister when his Congress government at Centre sent the case to Supreme Court through President of India.
