Chandigarh : As the elections to the Vidhan Sabha are approaching the velocity of formation of 4th front appears to be fizzling out. The villain of the game is proving to be former Member Parliament (BJP) Navjot Singh Sidhu who is keeping many a political party guessing.

He flirted with Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) which was ready to accept him in its fold, at a senior position. It became obvious that after his resignation from Rajya Sabha, he will be joining hands with AAP. But he is reported to have laid a condition that the party should first declare him as the Chief Ministerial candidate. The second condition was that his wife Dr Navjot Kaur should also be given a ticket to contest elections. AAP shrugged him off.

Sidhu later hobnobbed with the Vice-President, Congress Rahul Gandhi and tried to join the party but he put a condition that PPCC Chief Captain Amarinder Singh should be removed from his post. The marriage of convenience was shot lived and he suffered a divorce.

Sidhu then floated his own forum Awaz-e-Punjab and was joined by Bains brother and Pargat Singh. The formation of fourth started appearing to be a possibility. The AAP rebel, Member of Parliament Dharamvira Gandhi was expected to join the up-coming fourth front but that too fizzled out.

Bains brothers floated their own outfit name Insaaf Party. They were now searching for partners to contest from, at least, 15 constituencies to become a pressure group in case a hung Assembly came to existence.

Now the grape-wine is that Sidhu and his wife are looking for two safe constituencies from where Awaz-e-Punjab could fight.

Political observers are of the view that Navjot Sidhu’s fickle mindedness and rank opportunism led to the abortion of the fourth front.
