Jalandhar : A visibly upset former India hockey captain and ex-Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) MLA Pargat Singh stated on Monday that Bains brothers, Simarjit and Balwinder, acted in secret and did not disclose their plans of joining Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to either him or former BJP MP and non-political forum Aawaz-e-Punjab leader Navjot Singh Sidhu.
He said that both Sidhu and he were open to the idea that the Bains brothers would try to join some party or the other, but the manner in which it was done had left a bad taste in the mouth.
Singh said that he learnt about the development through the media as both the Bains brothers had not informed either Sidhu or him about the matter.
He also said that during their last meeting, held at Sidhu’s residence, all four members of the forum had discussed in detail the options open to them and weighed the pros and cons of joining either AAP or Congress.
Asked about his future plans, Pargat said that he was meeting with Sidhu on Wednesday and they would decide on what to do next.
Meanwhile, there was a buzz in AAP circles on Monday that Pargat was keen to join the party. However, informed sources stated that there was no truth to the matter and Pargat was closer to joining the Congress rather than AAP.
