It is strange that the unemployed youth of Punjab are on roads demanding employment, while Akalis are using the public purse for their ulterior motives. HS PHOOLKA, AAP senior leader
LUDHIANA: Aam Aadmi Party’s senior leader HS Phoolka said on Monday that the Public Works Department (PWD) of the state government has floated tenders worth `50 lakh for arranging pandals for the Moga rally of Akali Dal, which has been scheduled for December 8.
“This is wastage of the money meant for public welfare, which is being diverted for a political purpose by Akalis,” Phoolka said here on Monday.
“It is strange that the unemployed youth of Punjab are on roads demanding employment, while Akalis are using the public purse for their ulterior motives,” Phoolka added.
He said Akalis should stop diverting funds for their “selfish purposes and for arranging political rallies”.
Meanwhile, Phoolka alleged that the state-run toll barriers were charging commuters, flouting the government directions. He said, “How can toll barriers that are situated on state highways charge public despite the fact that central government has passed directions not to charge any toll till November 24.”
He alleged that barriers situated on Malerkotla Amargarh and Doraha-Neelon Road barriers were charging passing vehicles.
“The state government should immediately take serious notice of it and stop charging the commuters,” he said.
