Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) lawmaker Bhagwant Mann, who is being probed by a parliamentary panel for an alleged breach of security by him, has said he has nothing to add to or alter in his earlier deposition.
Mann said he had written to the panel headed by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Kirit Somaiya saying he is campaigning for the upcoming assembly elections in Punjab and should be given a few days notice to appear before it. The panel had requested him to appear before it this week.
“I will not water down my stand,” the Sangrur MP told HT over the phone from his home state where he is campaigning along with AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal. “I will be there for the November 28 hearing,” Mann said.
Somaiya said Mann had no other option but to appear before the panel. “He was first requested to come and join the inquiry now he has been summoned,” he said.
“There are contradictions in his communication with the committee. If he is firm on his stand that he did no wrong why did he write an apology? He needs to come and clarify that,” the BJP lawmaker added.
