AAP plans ‘surprise heavyweight’ against CM

After pitching its Sangrur MP Bhagwant Mann against deputy chief minister and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday said it will field heavyweights against chief minister Parkash Singh Badal and senior cabinet minister Bikram Singh Majithia, too.

“We will field surprise heavyweights against senior Badal and Majithia as well,” AAP’s Punjab affairs in-charge Sanjay Singh said at a press conference here.

Sanjay was here to hold a meeting with AAP workers for feedback on candidates fielded by the party. Sources said several workers complained of a “weak” campaign in Bathinda region. Two candidates have already been replaced.
