Chandigarh : Ruling Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) Lok Sabha MP from Ferozepur segment, Sher Singh Ghubaya’s family members are all set to join Congress bandwagon today at New Delhi.

Ghubaya’s son Davinder Singh Ghubaya (25) will join the Congress along with his mother and other family members in the presence of senior Congress leaders. Davinder Singh is eyeing a ticket from Fazilka constituency where Congress is represented by Dr Mohinder Rinwa.

As Ghubaya left Jalalabad (W) seat for SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal in 2009, his bitter relations with Sukhbir’s officer on special duty Satinderjit Singh Manta became quite visible after 2014 general elections.

Ghubaya represents Rai-Sikh community which has a dominant share in entire Ferozepur constituency. The big victory margins for Sukhbir Singh Badal in 2009 and 2012 assembly polls were outcome of Rai-Sikh community tilting towards him.

SAD MP’s decision to quit the party right before 2017 assembly elections has given a big jolt to Akali’s in particular Sukhbir Singh Badal who was likely to contest again from Jalalabad (W).

On one side where SAD is bound to face the brunt of Ghubaya’s timely masterstroke, Congress too will face the bitter revolt at Fazilka where Dr Rinwa will try to save his ground at any cost.
