Women are real assets, major contributors to economy of state: Rajinder Kaur Bhattal

Sangrur : Former Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Rajinder Kaur Bhattal asserted that women of Punjab are real assets and major contributors to the economy of state.
Addressing a rally “Dhiyan Punjab Dian” at Lehra, she said that women of state especially those living in rural areas have to face number of hardships in their daily lives to assist their families. Large number of women and girls in thousands from across the region turned out at the rally. This was first such kind of rally to be held in the region.
During the rally women and girls in huge numbers filled up the forms as part of the “Captain Ghar Ghar Vich” programme meant for their common cause and welfare.
She said that contribution of women in state’s economy cannot be belittled as they are doing their best to manage both their job and home. She said that balancing job and family pressures is not easy but added women of state are to be commended for their sustained hardwork smilingly without any grudges.
Not only this, she said that women who are housewives also face great difficulties of their own but they are also discharging their responsibilities with admirable compassion and courage. She said that though there is still lot to be done for women empowerment in Punjab emphasizing that in certain areas of state women are subjected to various sorts of harassment in form of domestic violence, dowry, not able to give birth to male child and so on.
She condemned Badal government for its failure to curb crime against women in state. She said that crime against women has increased manifold under SAD-BJP combine government. She said that women do not feel safe and secure while going to their job place and work destination.
Hitting out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his arrogance on demonetisation, she said that women in Punjab and other parts of nation are facing great deal of inconvenience as cash-crunch has made things very difficult for women to run daily household affairs.
She said that demonetisation had led to anarchy like station in the country including Punjab.
On Punjab assembly elections, former Chief Minister said that Congress is absolutely ready to take on ruling alliance of BJP-SAD. She claimed Congress would win the assembly elections with comfortable majority as people of Punjab have become suffocated from Badal government’s rampant corruption which has failed on all fronts. About AAP, she said it was not even in contest and was reduced to being a joke.
