Jalandhar : In a major setback to Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) agenda of appointing a Dalit as Deputy Chief Minister, its national executive member Yamini Gomar on Tuesday resigned from the party terming it as ‘anti-Dalit, anti-Sikh and anti-Punjabi’.

Gomar, a Hoshiarpur-based Dalit leader also termed the Delhi-based AAP leadership Sanjay Singh and Durgesh Pathak camping in Punjab as the ‘biggest manipulators’, who knew how to befool the Punjabis. The claim of AAP National Convener Arvind Kejriwal that if his party came to power, a Dalit would be made Deputy CM was a big fraud and lie.

Addressing a press conference, an emotional Gomar while controlling her tears said that if Kejriwal was so much concerned about Dalits, why he didn’t appoint a Dalit Deputy CM in Delhi. “Not only Dalits, Kejriwal was anti-Sikh too. There was not even a single Sikh cabinet minister in Delhi government while the lone Dalit leader was chucked out following serious allegations against him,” she said.

Besides Gomar, Baljit Singh, the vice president Youth Wing AAP and L R Nayyar, the former organiser of AAP also resigned from the party on Tuesday.

The trio maintained that within two years post Lok Sabha elections 2014, AAP witnessed a complete downfall. “The three C’s of AAP ie Corruption, Crime and Character have gone for a toss as AAP has deviated from its principles. There is no inner democracy and no say of volunteers in decision making. All right thinking founder volunteers were thrown out of the party,” they said.

Gomar along with other three AAP leaders said that despite recommendations of educated and eligible Dalit leaders, AAP fielded less educated and corrupt people, so that they could not raise their voice in assembly. “Being a member of national and state executive member, I strongly opposed those names, who were not eligible to contest elections as per party policy. But, the Delhi leaders kept telling me to keep my mouth shut, hence forcing me to resign,” she added.

L R Nayyar also said that Kejriwal blames SAD-BJP and the Congress for looting Punjab but the fact was that AAP has looted Punjab without even coming to power. “Many volunteers left their jobs, sold their lands to arrange funds for the party and get tickets. Even the youth, which joined hands with AAP was also feeling let down now,” he said.

Gomar also said that AAP was working like the other traditional parties and selling tickets to the highest bidders.
