Cong announces six candidates; former IAS springs a surprise

Four sitting MLaS’ Manage to secure their seats
Ludhiana : The Indian National Congress on Thursday announced the list of 61 candidates for 2017 Assemble elections. Out of 34, six candidates were from Ludhiana district. The Congress has fielded four sitting MLAs again in their respective constituencies. From Gill reserve constituency, former IAS Kuldeep Singh Vaid has spring surprise by getting Congress ticket.
From Ludhiana West, sitting MLA Bharat Bhushan Ashu is again Congress choice. From West, no heavyweight leader has applied for the ticket and Congress has officially announced its candidature in the first list.
From Ludhiana central, sitting MLA Surinder Dawar again manage to get party ticket from the same constituency. However, the name of former union minister and former MP Manish Tewari was also considered from central constituency but Dawar manage to retain his candidature.
From Khanna and Payal also, sitting MLA Gurkirat Singh Kotli and Lakhvir Singh Lakha were the Congress candidates.
From Raikot, Congress has given ticket to retired IAS Amar Singh, brother of sitting Congress MLA Gurcharan Singh Boparai. Amar Singh was contender from Gill constituency but Congress has fielded former Deputy Commissioner Kuldeep Singh Vaid as candidate from Gill constituency.
Resigned as Deputy Commissioner of Moga district, Kuldeep Singh Vaid has been announced as Congress candidate from Gill constituency. However, Vaid has not joined the party formally but he was allocated party ticket. Vaid is close to former minister and senior Congress leader Buta Singh who helped Vaid in getting election ticket.
