BATHINDA: Congress candidate Manpreet Singh Badal on Wednesday said that if the Congress comes to power, it will audit all the sops distributed by the ruling Akalis.
At a press conference held after inaugurating his election office, Manpreet accused the Akali-BJP government of initiating developmental projects in Lambi and Jalalabad, the respective constituencies of chief minister Parkash Singh Badal and deputy chief minister Sukhbir Badal, that were not approved.
Manpreet, who is contesting the Bathinda-urban seat, announced the local manifesto for Bathinda city that included “permanent solution to the seasonal flooding” in the city and “100% coverage under sewerage and water supply”.
The Congress election office was inaugurated by Manpreet's father Gudas Badal.
Manpreet said that Bathinda MP and food processing minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal was too arrogant to understand the problems of the people at the grassroots. “The protests against the Akali-BJP regime have become an every day affair in Bathinda," he said.
Manpreet also promised a probe into the reported scams in the municipal corporation here, withdrawal of notices issued by the Bathinda Improvement Trust to the allottees of certain residential colonies for enhanced property fees.
He said that the solid waste treatment plant will be shifted away from residential areas. Other promises made by Manpreet include an under-bridge level crossing, public parks in the deprived localities, funding to the cow shelters and an international-level cricket stadium.
