LUDHIANA : Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) general secretary Amarjit Singh Tikka has written a letter to the president of All India Congress Committee Sonia Gandhi, urging her to declare Captain Amarinder Singh as the chief ministerial candidate of the Congress party for the upcoming polls in the state.

He wrote: “The party, under the leadership of Captain Amarinder Singh, is all geared up to fight the upcoming elections.”

“While the process of the ticket allocation is already on and most of the candidates have been announced by the party, there is one important announcement that could immensely help in registering mammoth victory over the rivals,” Amarjit Singh Tikka wrote in the letter.

“The general sentiment among the masses is that Congress should declare its chief ministerial candidate for Punjab without any delay and the obvious name they want to hear is that of Captain Amarinder Singh,” he said.

“I have also travelled to various parts of Punjab and what Congress supporters and commoners shared with me was that with the declaration of the name of Captain Amarinder Singh as Congress CM candidate, the mind of the electorate will be clear as to who will be their next chief minister if Congress comes to power,” he added.
