Chandigarh : Alluring voters ahead Punjab Vidhan Sabha elections, Punjab Congress Committee (PCC) chief Capt Amarinder Singh on Sunday launched a nine-point action plan to bring the state back on track.

The PCC chief accused Badals of bringing Punjab to the verge of bankruptcy during their 10-year of “misrule”, claiming that the SAD-BJP government will be under a debt of Rs 50,000 crore when the Congress will form the government in 2017.

“The Badals have dragged the state under heavy debt and that is not the way to run a state,” he claimed.

Capt Amarinder was addressing a press conference organized on the joining of former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and spokesperson Yamini Gomar, Akali leader from Ludhiana Kamalji Singh Karwal and many others.

Launched under the banner of ‘Nawan Naraon Punjab Layee, Captain De Naun Nukte’, the nine-point agenda include commitment to wipe out the drug menace from the state in four weeks after forming the government, time-bound employment scheme to provide job to at least one person in each family in 5 years and Rs 2,500 unemployment allowance per month to identified employed. Captain also ensured creation of a new department Guardians of Governance to oversee implementation of schemes and ensure that funds are properly utilised at village levels.

The Congress will come up with its third list of 40 candidates shortly, claimed Punjab Congress chief clarifying that there was no delay in announcing the party candidates for ensuing Vidhan Sabha elections.

He that after the Screening Committee’s meeting, the list of probable candidates will be sent to Central Election Committee (CEC) for final call. He, however, denied any strong revolt claiming that the tickets allotted considering winability the main criteria.

“We have to close our flood gates as the Congress will see a huge influx of leaders from SAD, AAP and BJP after imposition of Code of Conduct. So far 22 SAD leader have joined the Congress”, claimed Captain.

Former Punjab Chief Minister and senior congress leader Capt Amarinder Singh straightway made it clear saying that not even a single drop of Sutlej Yamuna Link (SYL) canal water will be given to Haryana. “If Bhupinder Singh Hooda wills to campaign for Congress in Punjab poll he is welcome but not at the cost of SYL canal issue,” said Amarinder.

Former Haryana Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda, on Saturday had stated that he could campaign for the Congress in the upcoming Punjab Assembly polls only if Capt. Amarinder Singh gives him assurance to give the SYL share of water to Haryana.
