Also assures the masses to throw the guilty of sacrilege and other crimes into jail.

Fatehgarh Sahib : Punjab Congress president Captain Amarinder Singh on Monday vowed to put behind bars all those found guilty of religious sacrilege and other crimes against the people of Punjab, even as he made it clear that not a single subsidy would be withdrawn after his party comes to power in the state.

Addressing a gathering of people at the annual Jor Mela here, Amarinder condemned the spate of incidents of sacrilege in Punjab in recent months, saying such religious attacks would not tolerated and those responsible for these incidents would be punished.

Amarinder appealed to the people to vote for the Congress to save the state from the Badals and Majithia, accusing them of being interested in promoting their own interests and filling their pockets. He also slammed the ruling party leaders for the drugs menace in the state.

“Deprived of employment and jobs, the youth were being pushed into drugs by the Akalis,” alleged Amarinder.

The Punjab Congress president also attacked the Chief Minister over the 300-odd political appointments made in the past few days in violation of all norms, in a bid to place their own people in plum positions ahead of the imposition of the code of conduct.

Nailing Badals’ lies in this regard, Captain Amarinder asserted that not a single public subsidy would be withdrawn by his government after coming to power.

“The next Congress government would not only continue to give free power to the farm sector but will also reduce the power tariff for the industrial and commercial consumers,” Amarinder announced.

Reiterating his promise not to allow a single drop of water to go out of Punjab Captain Amarinder declared, “The Akali government led by Parkash Singh Badal failed to protect the state’s rights in the SYL case but I will fight on it till my last breath.”

Pointing to the series of farmer suicides, as well as the industrial collapse in the state, Captain Amarinder reiterated that he would waive off all the debts of the farmers and ensure the revival of the industries. He lambasted the SAD-led state government for scrapping the mega project scheme he had launched as chief minister to generate jobs for the youth and promote industrial development in Punjab.

Fatehgarh Sahib MLA Kuljit Nagra alleged that the state was being ruled under the dictatorship with a mention that only Amarinder could set the things right.

Senior leaders give it a miss

Unlike earlier,nNo senior Congress leader except Amarinder Singh attended the Shaheedi Jor Mel. Apart from Rajinder kaur Bhattal, Sunil Jakhar, Laal Singh, Amarinder Singh Raja Warring and Partap Singh Bajwa, the CLP leader Charanjit Singh Channi was also conspicuous for the absence.

Capt sees Sukhbir a man of his words

After complimenting the SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal during a summit held in Delhi recently, PPCC president captain Amarinder Singh on Monday again termed him a man of his words. On being asked by Daily Post, if Sukhbir’s appreciation could go against him, Amarinder said: “I said what I learnt from people. I don’t meet him regularly. If I said him man of his words it was also based on the impression I got from masses.”

Akali-turned-Congmen to get fielded

Reacting to a question that the Congress party has fielded at least four of People’s Party of Punjab (PPP), after it is merged with the Congress, none of the sitting MLAs came from Akali Dal could get the party ticket for upcoming polls, Amarinder Singh said: “We are giving priority to the Congressmen but if on any seat we see the party leader is not capable to win, we will consider those have come from other parties.” He mentioned that the third list of the party candidates would certainly have some of the Akali-turned-Congressmen.

High Command yet to see Punjab Manifesto

Asked the releasing date of Punjab poll manifesto, Amarinder said: “Our Punjab team has prepared it and not it is with the high command. At first, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will go through it and he would consult it with the AICC president Sonia Gandhi. Once it is cleared through the channels, we will release it.” He expected the process to get concluded in the month of January.
