Chandigarh : Terming the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) as a group of liars and cheats, leaders of Punjab Congress said Arvind Kejriwal’s party has lost all credibility by inducting a convict without bothering to verify his antecedents.
Though the party had tried to go for damage control and expelled Navdeep Singh, who was sentenced to seven years in jail for an assault on a Dalit leader, the move had exposed its true face, said Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) leaders in a statement issued here on Monday.
The fact that the convict was taken into the party fold along with the Dalit victim, as well as an eyewitness to the case, showed the complete absence of morality in AAP, the PPCC leaders said.
With this development, AAP has also once again proved itself to be completely anti-Dalit, said PPCC leaders Kewal Singh Dhillon, Ch Surinder Singh and Balwinder Singh Laddi, pointing out that AAP’s own leaders and workers, including Yamini Gomar, had openly accused Kejriwal and his associates of following an anti-Dalit agenda.
The PPCC leaders said the incident also gave credence to statement of Yamini Gomar, who joined the Congress on Sunday, that there was only a miniscule of AAP leadership who passed the 3C (free of corruption, criminal record and character).
Meanwhile, referring to AAP leader Gurpreet Singh Waraich’s remarks that Captain Amarinder Singh would not be able to fulfill his promise to making Punjab drugs-free in 24 hours, the PPCC leaders attacked him for resorting to such blatant lies over such a serious issues.
Captain Amarinder, they pointed out, had never mentioned 24 hours and had all along maintained that he would wipe drugs off the face of Punjab in four weeks a promise that Kejriwal had been quick to copy.
