Chandigarh : The exodus of Akali leaders into Punjab Congress continued on Monday as well with four key party leaders, including SAD Ludhiana zila parishad ex-vice chairman Advocate Bhalinder Singh Bhandal, pledging their allegiance to Captain Amarinder Singh.

Considered an Akali heavyweight, Bhandal was welcomed into Punjab Congress by party president Captain Amarinder Singh in Khanna.

Earlier, in Chandigarh, Dinesh Dhall, former councillor and ex-district president of Shiromani Akali Dal, joined the Punjab Congress in Captain Amarinder’s presence, along with Amit Dhall, councillor, and Navdeep Mohan, general secretary of SAD Doaba Zone.

The Akali leaders said SAD-BJP anti-people and dictatorial policies were making them feel suffocated and they decided to quit the party in favour of Punjab Congress.

They extended their unconditional support to Captain Amarinder, expressing full faith in his leadership, saying he alone could bring the state and its people out of the depths of despair into which the corrupt and greedy Badals had plunged it.

Washington : The Indian-American community in the US has urged the Trump administration to “fully support” India’s decision to revoke the constitutional provision that accorded special status to Jammu and Kashmir and to continue to exert pressure on Pakistan to end its support to cross-border terrorism.
