New Delhi : Punjab Congress president Capt Amarinder Singh on Thursday listed the “failures” of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal’s 10 years of “misgovernance”, saying the people wanted an explanation and did not want to hear about the Congress’s achievements, which they were already aware of.
He asked Badal to come out of the luxury of their Sukhvilas and explain his government’s “total failure” in addressing the needs of the people.
Reacting to Badal’s challenge to him to list just one of his government’s achievements, Amarinder reminded the chief minister that he had listed not one but initially 51, and then 101 of his government’s achievements in the state assembly long ago and it was now time for the Badal government to talk about their “failures”.
Amarinder dismissed Badal’s statement that there was no law and order problem in the state, and that the Congress was merely trying to put undue pressure on Punjab Police. Badal was clueless about the state of affairs under his government and was too busy in sangat darshan to be concerned about the situation in the state, Amarinder alleged.
The Punjab Congress president charged Badal with suffering from selective amnesia with regard to the Congress government’s achievements.
Amarinder said the Akali government had pushed the state into such a mess that only out-of-the-box thinking could bring it back on the path of revival. The Badals had neither the imagination nor the intent to alleviate the sufferings of people, he said.
