PATIALA: Two days after Punjab Congress chief Capt Amarinder Singh expressed his willingness to challenge chief minister Parkash Singh Badal on his home turf, a ‘Chalo Lambi’ form created by the Congress leader on Google has seen more than 17,000 registrations of people willing to be Patiala Royal’s foot-soldiers.

Captain’s move to take on Badal in Lambi is aimed at shutting the mouths accusing the Congress of ‘nexus’ with the Alkalis, take lead in the perception game and boost the morale of workers in Malwa. The highest number of registrations were from Bathinda, Sangrur and Patiala districts.

The form can be accessed by anybody and people can register themselves to join Captain in this ‘Father of all battles’ . The form can also be accessed from all digital properties of Captain Amarinder — Facebook pages (Punjab da Captain and Captain Amarinder Singh), and Twitter handle: Capt Amarinder Singh.

The description of the google form reads “Me Lambi ton ladunga. Badals da Punjab vicho safai karan layi me shuruaat Badals de ghar to hi karaanga. Lambi vich meri is ladai da sath den layi ethe register karo” (I will contest from Lambi. To wipe out the Badals from Punjab, I will start from their home. To join me in my fight in Lambi, register here.) The registration process is quick and easy as people only have to fill in their name and phone number. The poll office of Amarinder will allocate duties to the registered volunteers.

“The tangibility of the overwhelming support for Captain’s willingness to fight against the CM can be comprehended from the number of registrations that have happened in a few hours. More than 10,000 people have registered,” said IPAC, the team that is managing the social media campaign for the Punjab Congress.

Amarinder will file nomination from Lambi on Wednesday (January 18) and from Patiala on Tuesday.
