Sanaur/ Patiala : Addressing a rally at Tripuri where Congress stalwart Brahm Mohindra is contesting, PPCC chief Capt Amarinder Singh ridiculed CM Parkash Singh Badal for begging votes, as was heard in an audio clip doing the rounds on social media.

He said the Akali veteran should be ashamed of seeking votes in the name of his “laaj” (respect/pride) after “ruining the state and subjecting its people to harassment and victimisation”.

“After looting the state and devastating its economy, agriculture and industry to promote his family businesses, Badal is now asking people to forgive him and vote for him,” Amarinder said.

He urged voters to elect Brahm Mohindra as MLA and “he would surely be a Cabinet Minister”. The rally holds importance in the Patiala Rural constituency where Arvind Kejriwal, Bhagwant Mann and Sukhbir Badal have already held rallies for their candidates more than once in the last one month. “Punjab needs a government of Punjabis not Haryanvis,” said Amarinder, adding that a Haryanvi like Arvind Kejriwal with his “extreme left and right ideological mix” could not be expected to stand for the state or its rights.

With all Punjab's major disputes, including the SYL, with Haryana, Kejriwal would never be able to protect the right of our people, he added

Later, Amarinder addressed a rally in Sanaur.
