Chandigarh : Punjab unit of the BJP, on Monday came down heavily on AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal for calling the Election Commission a ‘spineless body’ which had ‘completely surrendered’ before Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Lambasting Kejriwal, state party secretary Vineet Joshi said, “Arvind Kejriwal is in a habit of questioning everyone. He has questioned CBI, RBI and even the President’s credibility. Not only this, he has cynically opposed every move of the Modi government, be it demonitisation or even the surgical strikes against terrorism. A habitual denigrator, he is pointing fingers at the very same constitutional body with the actions of which he came to power. Why didn’t he question the Election Commission when he came to power in Delhi?”

Continuing his tirade, Joshi added , “Arvind Kejriwal has seen the writing on the wall. He is frustrated that his flying ambition has crash-landed in Punjab. Instead of going into self-introspection, a baffled Kejriwal has launched an offensive against the Election Commission and the Prime Minister. He is simply obsessed with attacking PM Modi.”

Joshi further said, “I would like to make it clear to him that the Election Commission is an independent institution with great credibility. You have certain political ambitions; rightly so under a democratic system, but for god’s sake don’t demean the credibility of the Election Commission of India because in the end you are demeaning Indian democracy.”
