AMRITSAR : Terming Badal government’s actions over the Satluj-Yamuna Link (SYL) canal as ‘dirty politics’, Congress candidate from Amritsar Lok Sabha Gurjit Singh Aujla said on Tuesday that the SAD and Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) are the two sides of the same coin. SAD is in alliance with INLD in Haryana and at the moment, both parties have lost foothold in their respective states and now they are using SYL issue to gain some ground, he said.
“Badals have extended their stay in the US despite tense state of affairs in Punjab and INLD’s announcement to restart the construction of SYL canal on February 23 on the state’s border with Punjab.
The Badal’s game plan is to drag the innocent masses of both the states into a bloody confrontation which he did in the past too to reap political gains,” Aujla said.
Moreover, radical organisations have also announced to gather at Kapuri to challenge the INLD workers and stop them from construction in Punjab.
He added, “Capt Amarinder had quietly got the Punjab Termination of Agreements Bill passed in a special assembly session in July 2004 according to which, Punjab scrapped watersharing agreements with its neighbouring states and preserved the riparian rights of Punjab. The Badals kept ignoring this issue when it was being heard in court.”
Aujla appealed to the people of Punjab and Haryana to beware of the ‘dirty politics’ of the Badal and Chautala government.
