Jalandhar : Punjab Congress on Sunday took a dig at AAP for launching anti-drug campaign in Punjab and said that the AAP leaders were trying to in mere eyewash by making such an announcement.

The previous campaign of AAP against drugs was launched in the month of March 2015. A special Facebook page was also started where people not only from Punjab but NRIs ended up calling in India about various issues including drugs.

In a press release Punjab Congress spokesperson and vice president Himanshu Pathak targeted AAP leaders for launching a similar anti-drug campaign and launching a helpline to assist people in distress.

“If AAP leadership was serious on the issue, then why did they scrap the previously launched anti-drug campaign, which got a huge response? AAP owes an explanation to the people pf Punjab”, he asked

He said that this raises a question mark on the seriousness of AAP towards the Drug free campaign of Punjab.

Pathak said that AAP launched this campaign against drugs to befool Punjabis again but today it was time to remind them of their much publicized ‘Punjab Against Drugs’ campaign. “AAP had launched a similar campaign and a helpline number 9814445555 on which the party had received thousands of calls during in the month of March 2015”, he said.

The congress spokesperson said that the campaign got an excellent response from people of Punjab and sought help from AAP.

He said that after Sanjay Singh was made the incharge of Punjab, he stopped the ‘Punjab Against Drugs campaign’, which had already launched its vision document at a program in Jalandhar at Desh Bhagat Yaadgar Haal on March 31, 2015.
