Lok Sabha member from Patiala Dr Dharamvira Gandhi on Sunday accused Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader HS Phoolka of compromising on Punjab’s issues “to please his Delhi-based masters”.uth Carolina on Thursday night, triggering fears of another hate crime after the murder of an Indian aviation engineer in Kansas last week.
Dubbing Phoolka’s statement of building the Sharda-Yamuna Link canal from Uttarakhand for supplying water to Delhi and Haryana as a clever move to cover reneging of the AAP stand on Punjab waters issue, the suspended AAP leader said the party has forsaken Punjab’s rights in favour of Delhi and Haryana.
Dr Gandhi, in a statement issued here, said if Punjab has exclusive rights to waters flowing through the state on the basis of riparian principles, it is immaterial how much water is available. He denounced Phoolka’s support for the plan to interlink river waters as support to the “BJP-RSS agenda of centralisation”, which he said aimed at destroying the minimal federal space and reneging on the interests of states and minorities.
