Chandigarh : While the Election Commission has not made mention of any objectionable cash flow during the recently concluded Assembly elections, Congress spokesperson Manish Tewari today alleged that the Akali Dal had openly distributed cash to buy votes.
Tewari said: “Despite the cash crunch due to demonitisation, voters were offered money at different places. There are confirmed reports of payments of Rs 2,000 per vote even as there is no evidence. Most reports have been received from Malwa.”
“AAP has only the additional element of anarchy to separate it from the Congress’ core principles of being secular, liberal, democratic and inclusive making it the biggest challenge for us. It can be compared with the entry of the SP in Uttar Pradesh, Janata Dal in Bihar, Dravidian parties in South and the CPM in West Bengal. Its rise is affecting the Congress,” he added.
