Chandigarh : Senior Congress leader and former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda proved his ‘closeness’ with the party top brass to his rivals -Ashok Tanwar, Haryana Congress and Kiran Chaudhary, CLP leader, during Capt. Amarinder Singh’s swearing-in ceremony here on Thursday. Hooda was having formal invitation from Capt. Amarinder Singh who accompanied Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi in a special chartered plane from Delhi to Chandigarh along with other senior Congress leaders including Anand Sharma, Rajiv Shukla and Ashwani Kumar.

Tanwar, however, reached Chandigarh along with Delhi Congress president Ajay Makan. Interestingly, confusion remained to prevail on invitation to Chaudhary.

During Amarinder Singh swearing-in ceremony, Hooda shared a seat with dignitaries like Rahul Gandhi, Manmohan Singh, former Prime Minister of India in the front row while Tanwar accompanied Makan in the second row.

After attending the ceremony, Hooda while interacting with media persons at his residence claimed that participating in the occasions of happiness and sorrows of people, was a culture in Haryana, and he had come to attend the swearing-in ceremonies keeping that in mind. Tanwar and Chaudhary faction have been drawing swords against Hooda for a long time and demanding his removal from the party. Their relations have turned sour after Tanwar was allegedly attacked by Hooda supporters during Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Kisan Yatra’ in New Delhi in October 2016.
