Congress MLAs take to social media to curb drug menace

Nawanshahr : Congress MLAs of Nawanshahr district have started a campaign to make Capt Amrinder Singh’s drive against drugs a success.

From appealing at social media platform to using loudspeakers at religious places, the MLAs are urging people to shun drugs and the peddlers are being made part of the drive.

In a facebook post , Balachaur MLA Darshan Lal Mangupur warned the peddlers to stop their activities or else be ready to face wrath of police. “Chaar haftian vich sarey smuggleran te karvai hovegi, chahey oh Darshan Lal Mangupur da worker hi kyon na hove (all drugs’ smugglers even if it include my own workers will face police action within four weeks) ,” stated the Mangupur. He further asked his workers not to phone him for seeking assistance for peddlers.

Talking to Daily Post, Ajay, son of Mangupur, said, “We are also going to install complaint boxes and a helpline number to help people come out with their complaints and suggestions on the issue.”

Angad Singh too in his facebook post asked residents to help the government in curbing the scourge of drugs in state. “The state government is committed to take action against drug peddlers. If there is any information, do share with us,” he said.
