Captain picks Chahal, Thukral as his advisers

Chandigarh : Punjab government has appointed Bharat Inder Singh Chahal an adviser and senior journalist Raveen Thukral media adviser to Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh in the rank of Ministers of State (MoS). Chahal has got the reward for his loyalty to Captain when he was out of power for 10 years. Booked in a DA case during the previous regime, he was later acquitted by the court.

A close confidant of Captain, Chahal had also served as his Media Advisor during the previous Congress regime in the rank of MoS. Chahal enjoys cordial relations with the journalist fraternity both in print and electronic media. Chahal was seeking party ticket for his son Bikramjit Inder Singh Chahal from Mansa and had even organised a massive health camp to ‘show his strength’ at Kheeva Kalan in Mansa in July 2016.

Senior journalist Raveen Thukral has a long association with Captain Amarinder Singh. Thukral steered Singh’s media campaign in the recent Punjab Vidhan Sabha poll, after taking over as his media strategist in October 2016. Thukral, 52, started his journalistic career with The Patriot in 1986. He has worked in various capacities in Hindustan Times, The Tribune, ITV Group of TV channels, India News, NewsX, The Sunday Guardian and Aaj Samaj.

Washington : The Indian-American community in the US has urged the Trump administration to “fully support” India’s decision to revoke the constitutional provision that accorded special status to Jammu and Kashmir and to continue to exert pressure on Pakistan to end its support to cross-border terrorism.
