‘Not at all in favour of erasing British rule remnants’

Mohali : Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Saturday ruled out that the government will bring out any legislation to erase all remnants of humiliating British colonial rule in the state.
Couple of days back Finance Minister Manpreet Badal talked about bringing a legislation to formally condemn British rule and destroy its remains.
The CM said that he does not believe in wiping out history but learning from it. By changing the name of Akbar Road, India cannot wipe out the existence of Emperor Akbar.
He further said that this could be Manpreet’s personal opinion but he would look into any such legislation as and when it is formally brought to his notice.
Chief Minister said that Reserve Bank of India (RBI) was likely to release the pending Cash Credit Limit (CCL) for the state on Monday. He disclosed that he had personally called up Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Friday night regarding the issue.
Jaitely had assured him that he had taken up the issue with RBI authorities and the issue is likely to be resolved by Monday, said Captain Amarinder. Though wheat had started arriving in a few mandis around Ferozepur the volume was currently very low, said CM, assuring smooth and hassle-free procurement of farmers’ produce.
He also reitrated his commitment to wipe out drugs menace from the state and added that nobody involved in drug trafficking will be spared.
Captain quipped that those found guilty of bungling money in SAD-BJP government should be prepared to face the law of the land.
Lal Singh assumes charge
Chandigarh: Former Finance Minister Lal Singh assumed the charge as Chairman of the Punjab Mandi Board in the presence of Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh in Mandi Board at SAS Nagar on Saturday.
