JALANDHAR: The Congress spokesperson Nimisha Mehta targeted former chief minister Parkash Singh Badal for the delay in Cash Credit Limit (CCL) on Saturday. “It was his regime that a food grain scam of ₹31,000 crore came to fore.”

Mehta claimed that the scam was highlighted by Congress. “At first Badal claimed that it was a mere mismatch of figures and later the same government got their mismanagement converted into loan to be paid by Punjabis in 20 years.” she said.

Mehta further contended that giving the whole issue a ‘loan aspect’ clearly indicates that Badal knew that a blunder was done and money was definitely bungled. The Congress spokesperson said, “Punjabis kicked out the SAD-BJP and now Badal and his party leaders are resorting to cheap tactics and delaying CCL release just to punish the farmers here.” She also questioned, “Why did not Badal take back the department from his son-in-law and former minister Adesh Pratap Singh Kairon once the scam came to fore. Mehta said, “Due to ₹31,000 crore scam, the government has to delay in the release of money for food grain procurement.” She also said, “Chief minister Amarinder will not let farmers suffer.”
