Chandigarh : In an attempt to boost industrialisation in the state, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh will go on a three-day visit to Mumbai from April 11 onwards. The CM will lead a delegation of government officials and will hold one-to-one meetings with over 22 industrial tycoons including Ambani’s, Mahindra & Mahindra, Godrej etc informed Punjab finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal.

Badal who was talking to media persons in Bathinda on Friday, claimed that Capt Amarinder Singh was very much concerned about the industrial growth of state and that could be well gauged with his efforts, made in just two month after taking over as a CM.

The Punjab Congress has already made poll promises in its election manifesto to revive the industry and efforts are being made to fulfill them, he added.

In last couple of years, the SAD-BJP government had also made many efforts to boost industrial environment in state during their tenure. The initiative was taken by the then Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal who held massive event- Progressive Punjab which was attended by a number industrialists from India and abroad.

Connect Broadband to invest `257 cr in Punjab

Chandigarh: A wire-line and broadband company Connect Broadband on Friday announced to invest Rs 257 crore in Punjab this fiscal to enable high broadband speed of 50 mbps by deploying VDSL technology on copper network.

Arvind Balim Chief Executive Officer of the company, said the technology will enable speeds of up to 50 mbps on copper network and deliver superior experience in a multi-device environment. He said the existing customers could upgrade to VDSL (very-high-bit-rate digital subscriber line) speeds at no extra charge.

“The need of speed is increasing on a daily basis and only fixed-line technology can fulfil that need. The penetration and the number of smartphone users have increased to a great extent over the past few years,” he said.
