Officials will prepare blueprints of pending projects: Preneet

PATIALA: “Patiala residents need to be patient for the overall development of the city,” said Preneet Kaur, former minister of state for external affairs and wife of chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh. She was here to give away prizes to the winners of blind car rally.

She said that Patiala roads are in a poor state, drinking water and sewerage are some other problems. “Considering the long-pending demands, local officials have been asked to make plans and prepare blueprints,” said Kaur.

“There are many issue and it will take us sometime to resolve all of them,” she added. She gave away prizes to the winners of a 40km blind rally organised by Motor Federation of India, to mark the 50 years of Patiala Society for the Welfare of Handicapped.

As many as 52 cars participated in the rally, where blind students participated as navigators.

They read out directions from the maps written in brail. Senior superintendent of police (SSP) S Bhupathi flagged off the rally.

Jeevanjit Kaur and Diyalwant’s team won first prize, Diwana Mangla and Sujata second, Prabhjot Kaur and Sunena third, in the women’s category. Arshdeep and Pawan Kumar stood first, Sumanjot and Shiv Kumar second, and Gypsum Mittal and Shiv Kumar stood third in the men’s category.
