New Delhi : Congress leader Partap Singh Bajwa of Punjab on Wednesday raised the issue related to three non-operational airports--Ludhiana Pathankot and Bathinda--in the state.

Demanding their immediate operationalisation, Bajwa demanded that the international airports at Amritsar and Chandigarh be connected with international destinations like Canada.

Speaking during Zero Hour in the Rajya Sabha, Bajwa alleged that some elements in Delhi were not interested in making the two international airports completely operational because of vested interests.

He urged the Civil Aviation Minister to look into the matter.

Meanwhile, HRD minister Prakash Javadekar said he was looking into matter related to Panjab University, Chandigarh.

He said the Centre had not issued any fee hike instruction in the university.

Speaking in the Rajya Sabha, Javadekar said Panjab University is not controlled by the Centre. It (PU) does not come under the Centre, it is under the state, he said, adding that still the ministry was looking into the matter.

Javadekar was responding as some members raised concern over the happenings at Panjab University when an issue related to Chhattisgarh university was being raised during Zero Hour.
