CHANDIGARH : Rajya Sabha MP Partap Singh Bajwa on Wednesday demanded that airports at Pathankot, Bathinda and Ludhiana should be operationalised soon. Raising the issue in Parliament, he said Pathankot was the gateway to J&K and lower parts of HP and there should be flights linking this city with Delhi as well as Srinagar, Dharamshala, Kullu and Leh.
“Punjab’s economy is in a shambles and the three airports can greatly help in boosting tourism,” said the Congress leader.
Bajwa also stressed the need for direct lights from Amritsar and Mohali International Airports to the US, the UK, Canada and Australia. It will help NRIs come directly to Punjab, he said, adding that a lobby based in New Delhi doesn’t want any airport in the state to function properly due to vested interests.
