LUDHIANA : Calling Punjab chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh’s decision to not meet Canadian defense minister Harjit Singh Sajjan as “correct”, general secretary of Punjab Congress Amarjit Singh Tikka on Sunday said Amarinder had proved his “secular credentials” by the decision.

Sajjan is expected to visit India later this month and meet leaders of different political parties. The Punjab CM had recently stated that he will not meet Sajjan during his visit.

In his statement, Tikka said the “pro-Khalistan Canadian minister” was a sympathiser of separatist elements. “Captain Amarinder Singh has proved that the voters of Punjab were correct in their choice of bringing Amarinder Singh as chief minister of the state. He is the most secular leader of the country,” said Tikka.

Tikka also said that AAP was trying to destabilise the situation in Punjab.
