LONDON: Atleast 20 Indian and British soldiers participating in joint exercises called Ajeya Warrior and Wessex Storm in the Salisbury plains in southwest England were injured — two Indians seriously — in a collision between troop-carrying lorries on Wednesday.
The exercise involved nearly 120 soldiers from the Kumaon Regiment and the Devon-based 6thbattalion of The Rifles of the British army. Six of the injured remained in hospital, the British army said. Others had been discharged by Thursday morning.
While two Indian soldiers suffered fractures, the other injured Indians were discharged after treatment for minor injuries. The Wiltshire Police said two army personnel, who were air-lifted by air ambulance to Southampton General Hospital, had “life-changing injuries” to their legs.
