WASHINGTON: US President Barack Obama has appointed a Sikh engineer to a key administration post, the White House has said. Sikh American Legal Defence and Education Fund co-founder Manjit Singh has been appointed member of the President’s Advisory Council on Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships.
The announcement came along with several other yesterday. “These fine public servants bring a depth of experience and tremendous dedication to their important roles. I look forward to working with them,” Obama said in a statement. Manjit Singh is president of Agilious, a software technology consulting firm he founded in 2013, and co-founder and chairman of the board of directors of Sikh American Legal Defence and Education Fund, a Sikh American media, policy and education organisation.
He served on the board of directors of Guru Gobind Singh Foundation.
